Jefferson Falkner sold land in Humphreys County, Tennessee with his wife, Rebecca Falkner, on December 21, 1874. Copies of Deed Book V, Pages 285-287 are available. So is a transcription of the archaic handwritten document.
On September 22, 1876 Jefferson Falkner and his wife, Rebecca, once again sold land situated in Humphreys County, Tennessee. At this time they were probably living in Graves County, Kentucky which is evidenced by the necessary certification of the Graves County, Kentucky Clerk of the Court. Copies of the Humphreys County, Tennessee Deed Book W, Pages 270-272 are available, as is a transcription.
On that same day Jefferson and Rebecca sold two additional tracts of land. This transaction is recorded in Humpreys County, Tennessee HumphreysTNDeedBookW275-277. A transcription of this deed is also available.

BUTLER/FAULKNER – Jefferson Faulkner and Susan J McNeely were the parents of Laura Dell Faulkner. Laura married Samuel Dempsey Woodard Butler on June 9, 1889 at the home of Parson Yates. Sam’s death certificate listed his parent as William Butler and Sally Woodard.
Sam Butler (born December 17, 1853 in Christian County, Kentucky – died November 26, 1920) died of blood poisoning after a train hit the wheelbarrow he was pushing, which caused the handle to pierce his leg. The death certificate states that he died of an “accident followed by septicemia (struck by a train)”. He is buried in Pinson Cemetery in southern Graves County. Sam Butler, a merchant, owned a store in Palmore, Kentucky, and later in Water Valley, Kentucky.
His first wife was a Thomas, his second wife was a Givens, and his third wife was Laura Dell Faulkner (born January 19, 1865 in Kentucky – died September 5, 1925 in Kentucky, of a stroke). She is buried at Pinson Cemetery. The children of Sam and Laura are:
Flora (born September 12, 1878 in Graves County, Kentucky – died November 11, 1932 in Graves County, Kentucky) married Ed Casey on October 7, 1897. Children, Opal, married JD Yates, and Boyd.
Gussie (born March 11, 1882 in Graves County, Kentucky – died September 24, 1951 in Colorado) married Oscar Carr on September 5, 1897. Children: Lloyd, Edward, Everett, Clarence, Marie, Melissa and Louise.
Harrison (born July 26, 1884 – died in Kansas City, Missouri) never married.
Robert Lee (born June 1887 in Graves County, Kentucky – died February 7, 1956) was married three times. He married Nine McClure in 1911, they divorced. Second marriage was to Annie Crawford. They divorced and he remarried Nina McClure, He was baptized at Mt Pleasant Church of Christ in 1912. He had no children.

Beulah Gracie (born March 10, 1893 in Graves County, Kentucky) married Zelber Holden on June 19, 1911. A second marriage was to Sod Holland on August 31, 1946. She was baptized at Mt Pleasant Church of Christ in 1910 and later became a Baptist. Children were Eula Mae Holden (married a Puckett) and Marie.
Vodie Jefferson (born July 6, 1895 in Graves County, Kentucky – died December 3, 1937) was buried at Mt Pleasant Cemetery. He married Rachel Elizabeth McClure on October 20, 1912. He was baptized at Mt Pleasant Church of Christ in 1912. Children: Harrison Phillip, Novella (married Henderson), Paul, and Jack Lonzo.
