Fred Junior Lee (1924-2007)

Fred Junior Lee was born on April 13, 1924 in Muldrow, Oklahoma to Fred Elmer Lee and Maggie Elizabeth Faulkner.

He married Edith M Bagley on February 5, 1944 in Muldrow, Oklahoma.

They were the parents of Marilyn Lee and Fred Duwayne Lee.

He died on April 5, 2007 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Burial is in Lee’s Chapel Cemetery in Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. Mr. Lee was born April 13, 1924, in Lee’s Chapel community, to Fred Elmer Lee and Maggie Elizabeth (Faulkner) Lee. He died Thursday, April 5, 2007, in Tahlequah. He married Edith M. Bagley, Feb. 5, 1944, in Muldrow. Survivors include his wife, Edith of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Terry; one daughter-in-law, Dorliss; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, George, Raymond, Arthur, and Joe; five sisters, Patsy, Martha, Mary, Marilyn and Tennie; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Fred Duwayne Lee in 1984, his parents, and three brothers, Robert, Jack, and Ronald Lee.

Susie Lee Keith was born on May 26, 1927 in Drumwright, Oklahoma to William Harvey Keith and Edna Mae Faulkner.

Ella Wese Hooker was born on September 9, 1927 in Lubbock Texas to Lambert Fern Hooker and Lillie Mae Leach.

She married Bobby Lester Bell on April 23, 1948 in Lubbock, Texas.

She died on December 19, 2010 in Lubbock, Texas.

Ella Wese Bell, 83, of Lubbock died Dec. 19, 2010. Services will be held on Dec. 22, 2010, in the South Plains Church of Christ at 2 p.m. with Jim Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Bell was born Sept. 9, 1927, in Lubbock to Lambert and Lillie (Pryor) Hooker and spent her entire life here. She married Bobby Bell on April 23, 1948, in Lubbock. She was a member of South Plains Church of Christ, worked as a beauty operator and was a loving housewife and mother.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bobby, of Lubbock; two sons, Danny Bell of Lubbock and Jimmy Ted Bell and wife Dina of La Grange, Texas; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ben Hooker of Euless, Texas.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bender Terrace for their loving care and compassion.

Carnie Nelson Henderson (1916-2000)

Carnie Nelson Henderson was born on April 16, 1916 in Hickman County, Kentucky to Rufus Henderson and Susan Belle Clark.

He married Novella Butler.

He died on November 21, 2000 in Mayfield, Kentucky.

MAYFIELD, Ky.–Services for Carnie Nelson Henderson, 84, of Mayfield will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home of Mayfield. Michael Tucker will officiate. Burial will be in Clark Cemetery in Hickman County.

Mr. Henderson died at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday at Mills Manor Nursing Home.

A native of Hickman County and an Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Henderson was a retired carpenter and member of the Carpenters Local Union 73 of St. Louis.

He was a member Northside Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Novella Henderson; one daughter, Marilyn Jones; two brothers, Lewis and Ira Henderson; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. His parents were Rufus and Susan Belle Clark Henderson.

George Wilson Guill (1918-2009)

George Wilson Guill was born on March 7, 1918 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Thomas Jefferson Guill and Minera B Bonifield.

He was the father of Georgeanne Guill, Jennifer Guill, Susan Alyce Guill, and Elizabeth Guill.

He died on February 11, 2009 in Stockbridge, Georgia.

George W. Guill
STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. – Graveside service for George W. Guill, 90, Stockbridge, Ga., will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Ga., with the Rev. Brooks Everett officiating.

Mr. Guill died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009.

Inurnment is under direction of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, McDonough, Ga.

He was born in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to Thomas J. and Minervia Bonifield Guill. He served in the U.S. Army for 31 years during World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

Survivors include two daughters: Georgeanne Pardini, Dacula, Ga.; and Jennifer Thomas, Stockbridge, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two daughters: Susan Alyce Wheatly; and Elizabeth Guill, at birth.

Billy Guill (1927-2015)

Billy Guill was born in 1927 in Paducah, Kentucky to Raymond Shell Guill and Kanzady Hicks.

He married Gladys House.

They were the parents of Keith Guill, Cynthia Guill, and Angela Guill.

He died on December 27, 2015 in Paducah, Kentucky.

Billy Guill age 88 of Paducah passed away Sunday December 27 at 2:45 A.M. at his residence.

Mr. Guill was a native of Paducah and was a United States Army Veteran, and a retiree of Jackson Purchase Electric. He was a member of the Ohio Valley Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife, Gladys House Guill. One son, Keith Guill of Ledbetter, KY. Two daughters, Cynthia Stenbridge of Evansville, IN., and Angela Austin of Cave City, KY. Three step daughters, Donna Jones of Ledbetter, KY., Kathy Lynch of Benton, KY., and Sharon Armstrong of Lone Oak, KY. One sister, Louise Shelton of Paducah, KY., Three half sisters, Helen Miller, Bea Tapp, and Margaret Neihoff all of Lone Oak KY. Several Grandchildren, Great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Guill and Kanzady Hicks Guill.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday December 29, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Keeling Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Mitcheson officiating. Burial will follow in the Smithland Cemetery Smithland, KY. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. till funeral hour.

Bernice Edell Guill (1933-2016)

Bernice Edell Guill was born in 1933 in Kentucky to Raymond Shell Guill and Ida Webb.

She married Mr Tapp.

They were the parents of Shelley Tapp and Rhonda Tapp.

She died on October 26, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Beatrice Guill Tapp, of Paducah, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, surrounded by her family.

She is a graduate of Augusta Tilghman High School, Class of 1951, University of Louisville/Louisville General Hospital graduate in 1957. Upon graduation, she served an internship at Riverside Hospital, Paducah, following which she was employed by the Orthopaedic Clinic of Samuel L. French, M.D., where she remained until her retirement in 1993. During her career in the medical field, her professional affiliations included membership in the WKSRT Society, PASRT Society, and held lifetime memberships in the KSRT, ASRT, and AART Professional Organizations.

Bea was fond of all sports, especially UK Basketball, and enjoyed playing golf with her friends at Paxton Park, Rolling Hills Country Club and Metropolis Country Club. She also loved Duplicate Bridge and was a member of Echo Duplicate Bridge Club and Sebring Florida Duplicate Bridge Center. She volunteered in many civic organizations: Market House Theater, Paducah Symphony Orchestra, and American Cancer Society.

She loved her church, First Baptist of Paducah, especially all her dedicated friends in the back Amen corner, and participated in the Exercise Classes, the flower ministry and the Tuesday Outreach Ministry at First Baptist. She was also blessed to have the title of Snowbird member of Union Congregational Church in Sebring, Florida during the winter months. She formerly attended Southland Baptist Temple.

She was blessed with many friends who have volunteered their services in many ways to assist the family throughout her lengthy illness. The family extends sincere heartfelt thanks to all who did so much for our Mom.

Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Shelley Tapp of Texas and Rhonda Tapp Edwards, of Paducah; two loving sisters, Helen Guill Miller and Margaret Guill Neihoff; and her sister in law Gladys Guill, and special nieces and nephews, Leisa Neihoff, Kathy Miller Moss, Mark Miller and Kevin Miller, and a loving extended family of cousins.

A special Thank You to Mom’s “Prayer Warriors” who were so supportive and faithful. These include her “fitness family,” also, her Tuesday outreach group. Mom felt your prayers which provided her the support and faith to keep fighting. God Bless each one. Also, the family wants to extend our heartfelt thanks to Rev. Tommy Tucker for guiding Mom through the dark valleys all the way to the mountain top.

She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond S. Guill and Ida Webb Guill; her faithful and caring brother, Billy Guill; two very special nephews, Gregory and Steve Neihoff; and two special aunts, LaVerne Guill Malone and Jeanette Guill McClintock.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Paducah, Friends of McCracken County Library or St. Nicholas Clinic.

Ila Estelle Garrigus (1913-2013)

Ila Estelle Garrigus was born on December 23, 1913 in Palmersville, Tennessee to James Bedford Garrigus and Laura Mae Butler.

She died on September 12, 2013 in Union City, Tennessee.

 

 

The following was copied from “Graves County, Kentucky – History & Families” written by the Graves County Genealogical Society, page 250.

GARRIGUS

Ila Estelle Garrigus, the oldest of five children, was born in Weakley County, Tennessee to Laura Mae Butler and James Bedford Garrigus on December 23, 1913. When she was two years old the family moved to Graves County, Kentucky.

She grew up and attended school in Graves County graduating from Pilot Oak High School during the “Great Depression”. After graduation she went to Murray State Teacher’s College in Murray, Kentucky. With the depression on there was very little money. Ila lived with the Almon Beal Family and helped with the housework for room and board. She graduated from Murray and taught elementary grades in Graves County for seven years.

By this time the USA was in WWII and she was making very little money teaching, so she went to Detroit and worked. There she was a dynamometer recorder for the testing of aircraft engines.

After the war ended, Ila had no job, so she stayed in Detroit for about two years and worked in a dress shop. She was clerk and became assistant manager. Her mother lost her eyesight, so Ila decided to go back to Kentucky where she could be more help to her mother.

When she decided to go to work, she taught school in Paducah, Kentucky for two years. Then she heard of Peoria, Illinois needing teachers. They were paying more than Kentucky, and the pension was better She taught 26 years in Peoria and retired there. After retirement she worked in a fabric store for a couple of years before coming to Paducah, Kentucky, where she resides now (1999).

PEORIA – Miss Ila Estelle Garrigus, age 99, of Union City, Tenn., formerly of Peoria, Ill., died on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at 5:20 p.m. at the Golden Living Center in Union City, Tenn.

Miss Garrigus was born near Palmersville, Tenn., in Weakley County on Dec. 23, 1913, to James Bedford Garrigus and Laura Mae Butler Garrigus.

Ila attended grammar school at the French School, which was a one-room school. She attended grades seven through 12 at the Pilot Oak High School, where she graduated in 1932.

Ila graduated from Murray State Teachers College in 1942 after stopping for 7 1/2 years to teach at the Pilot Oak School for grades three and four.

During World War II, Ila moved to Detroit, Mich., to work in a military aircraft engine factory testing aircraft engines.

In 1946, Ila taught school in Paducah, Ky., for two years at McKinley Grammar School.

Miss Garrigus moved to Peoria, Ill., in 1948, where she taught at the Columbia, Loucks and Tyng schools until her retirement in 1976.

In 1976, Ila moved backed to Lone Oak, Ky. Ila worshiped at the Lone Oak Church of Christ, where she was active in the Senior Ladies Group.

Ila moved from Lone Oak to live in the home of her nephew and his wife Larry and Joyce Russell in Union City, Tenn., in July 2006.

In Union City, Tenn., Miss Ila attended church at the Exchange Street Church of Christ when she could until her health declined, which placed her in the Golden Living Center, where she resided until her death.

She is survived by her nephew, Denton Russell of Searcy, Ark.; nephew, Larry Russell of Union City, Tenn.; nephew, James Dennis Garrigus of Lone Oak, Ky.; niece, Laura Faye Davis of South Fulton, Tenn.; niece, Linda Sue Holman of Wingo, Ky.; and niece, Patricia Hall of Palm Bay, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two sisters, Gracie Russell and Fannie Garrigus; two brothers, James Garrigus and Vodie Garrigus; and a niece, Bonnie Willett.

Funeral services will be held today, Sept. 14, 2013, at 4 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Wingo, Ky., with Brother Bobby Crittendon officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Wingo, Ky. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the Brown Funeral Home in Wingo, Ky.

Pallbearers will be Charles Russell, Gayle Hall, Craig Russell, James Denise Garrigus, Garrett Foster and Gabe Willett.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Fund, c/o Laura Davis, 9584 Fields Road, South Fulton, TN 38257.

Annie Gracie Belle Garrigus (1917-1977)

Annie Gracie Belle Garrigus was born on March 21, 1917 in Graves County, Kentucky to James Bedford Garrigus and Laura Mae Butler.

She married Vodie Denton Russell on September 14, 1940 in Sedalia, Kentucky.

She died on February 22, 1977 in Union City, Tennessee.

RUSSELL/GARRIGUS

Annie Grace Belle Garrigus, born March 21, 1917 in Graves County, Kentucky was the third child of James Bedford and Laura Mae (Butler) Garrigus. She was baptized at Mt Pleasant Church of Christ in 1931 and married Vodie Denton Russell on September 14, 1940 in Sedalia, Kentucky. Gracie was a seamstress at Curlee Clothing in Mayfield, Kentucky. She died on February 22, 1977 in Obion County, Tennessee after an extended illness. She lived in the home of her younger son until her death.

Vodie (born February 24, 1905 in Graves County, Kentucky – died January 22, 1973 in Graves County, Kentucky) was a farmer and also worked for the state highway department. His parents were Robert Edward Russell and Nora Lee Short. He was also a member of Mt Pleasant Church of Christ.

They had two sons. The oldest son was Robert Denton Russell, born on February 12, 1943 and now lives in Nashville, Tennessee. His first marriage was to Loretta Faye Williams in 1961. Their children are Craig Stephen Russell, Tina Michelle Russell, and Angela Dawn Russell.

The second son was Larry Boaz Russell who was born on February 2, 1947 in Graves County, Kentucky and now lives in Union City, Tennessee. He married Joyce Kay Shannon on September 4, 1971 in Obion County, Tennessee. Their children are Charles Bradley Russell and Jeanne Lynn Russell. (Submitted by Laura Garrigus Davis)

Mrs. Gracie Bell Russell, a former resident of Graves County who had been making her home in Union City, Tennessee, died Tuesday afternoon at the Obion County Hospital in Union City. She was 59 years of age, and the widow of Vodie Russell.
Surviving are two sons, Larry Boaz Russell, of Union City, and Robert Denton Russell, of Saudi Arabia, two brothers, Vodie Garrigus of Wingo and James Garrigus of Lone Oak, and a sister, Miss Ila Garrigus, also, of Lone Oak. Five grandchildren survive.
The funeral is tentatively set for Friday. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hopkins and Brown Funeral Home in Wingo, KY.

William Ray Faulkner (1930-2002)

William Ray Faulkner was born on October 18, 1930 in Muldrow, Oklahoma to William Clifford Faulkner and Mamie Belle Kidd.

He married Doris Mae Lamoureux on November 27, 1952 in Killingly, Connecticut.

They were the parents of William Ray Faulkner Jr, David Emery Faulkner, and Marianne Faulkner.

He married Norma Lee Isaacs on February 28, 1976 in Reno, Nevada.

He died on May 26, 2002 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
